My First Mother’s Day
The background photo is of Denise and David as an infant. Denise is sitting on the floor and leaning against the couch with David in her lap. She is holding a bottle up to David’s mouth. Denise is smiling at the camera. Over the photo lies this text: For perhaps the first time in my life, I was the center of someone’s world: not as a burden, but as a protector. Suddenly, I found myself the mother I had often dreamed about becoming, an improbable dream, I had thought. David had thrust me into my now cherished role, one tht demanded use of all my resources and strengths.
