Speaking
I have been training and lecturing on disability-related issues both nationally and globally since 1972. My audiences range from preschoolers to physicians, disabled children to adults. My passion is weaving the disability experience into the tapestry of living, and I am known for engaging my audience with humor and insight to challenge their assumptions and broaden their awareness about disability.
My lectures have focused on the following topics:
-
From my time at Camp Jened to present day, I continue to speak widely on my personal experience of living with a disability and the broader Disability Rights Movement, which I have been a part of since the 1960s. I work with a variety of organizations to change perspectives on how people think, act, and behave in relation to disability.
-
I teach and train doctors, residents, and healthcare professionals on disability culture, access, sexuality, and experiences in health care settings.
-
I speak to parent support organizations as well as parent groups to provide practical information and guidance on raising children with disabilities.
